Christopher M.A. Brett obtained his B.A. degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford, UK, in 1977, and his D.Phil. in Electrochemistry from Oxford University with Prof. John Albery in 1981. In 1981 he was appointed to a Lectureship in Chemistry at Coimbra University. He was awarded the D.Sc. degree from the University of Coimbra in 2002. He is a member of CEMMPRE, Research Unit 285 of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT). President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) 2020-21 (Vice President/President Elect 2018-19). President of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) 2007-8, (Past President 2009-10; President-Elect 2005-6; Vice-President 2003-4). Chair of ISE Publications Committee 2016-20 Vice-President (President-Elect) of the Iberian Society of Electrochemistry (Sociedade Iberoamericana de Eletroquímica (SIBAE)) 2018-20, to become President 2020-22. fundamental research through to applications in the environmental, food
and health areas concerns: Author or co-author of more than 310 scientific articles and publications. Co-editor of special issues of Electrochimica Acta (1998, 2004, 2012 (to celebrate the International Year of Chemistry) 2018), Analytica Chimica Acta (1999), Pure and Applied Chemistry (2001), Analytical Letters (2004, 2006), and Microchimica Acta (2008, 2010). Recently member or continuing as member of the Advisory Editorial Board of the journals “Electrochimica Acta”, “Talanta”, “Electroanalysis”, “Journal of Electrochemistry China”, “Bulletin of Electrochemistry” and “Analytical Letters”.
